How many volunteers does it take to plan VBS?
We have 27 people on our planning team. We start planning in November and continually plan until VBS.
How many volunteers does it take during VBS week?
We have around 300 volunteers on campus during VBS week along with 30-40 behind-the-scenes volunteers before VBS even starts.
What do VBS volunteers do?
During VBS week, volunteers serve in various rolls including Shepherds, snack helpers, door monitors, craft assistants, decorations team and prayer team just to name a few.
However, we have a lot of things that we need help with before VBS even starts! There are items that need sorting, counting, cutting, folding—many things that can be done at home.
What do the kids at VBS participate in during the day?
The 4-year-olds-4th graders begin each day in an opening large group where they sing songs and participate in games, story presentation and skits. After the large group, they start a rotation of crafts, snacks, recreation and small group. At the end of the day, they come to closing large group where we review our story for the day, play a few more games and have a time of prayer.
5th and 6th graders start out in The Refuge with worship. Each day they travel to a local mission project where they learn ways to serve in our great city.
Are there any special nights during VBS?
Wednesday night we will have a Family Fellowship Night in the Courtyard. Families can bring a picnic or purchase food from the food trucks. We will have music as well as a few surprises.
Why is the closing session on Thursday longer than the other days?
Our closing on the last day of VBS—Thursday—is a special day. The children have learned a lot about the Bible during the week, and we offer a time of prayer and reflection for the kids.
How many feet of nametags are used during VBS?
How many gummies do the kids eat during VBS week?
Why should I volunteer at VBS?
We want to pour into the children and help them learn about the Bible and Jesus. This year’s theme is Gadgets & Gizmos. Through skits, songs, crafts, games, snacks and worship, children will discover that they are uniquely wired and wonderfully made!
