What an incredible week we had at Service Over Self! We had about 175 students and adult leaders out on 21 worksites in Binghampton and Orange Mound ministering to families through home repair and building relationships. From students of different ages coming together to problem solve and fix roofs, to devotionals shared over ham sandwiches, to playing corn hole at the center, to meaningful reflection times after chapel, God was working and moving within our students, leaders, homeowners and city at large. One of the best and most meaningful memories from the week was on Friday night when students shared what God had done in their lives that week.
We would also like to take this time to thank some people for an incredible week at SOS. First, we are so grateful and thankful for our amazing adult leaders who helped to lead teams of students and gave of their time, energy and sleep to serve our students and our city. SOS couldn’t happen without them, and we are extremely blessed!
Second, A BIG thanks to the SOS summer staff and full-time staff for their tireless service and encouragement to our teams. Keep them in prayer as they continue to serve God this summer—that they would finish strong in these last few weeks!
Lastly, a HUGE thanks to members of our congregation who came to help serve dinner, serve popsicles, do laundry, pray for our teams, load/unload luggage and everything in between! We are so appreciative for your willingness to serve and to be salt and light.
We were so grateful to Christ to be part of SOS this year, and we can’t wait for SOS 2018!
