Guest post by Amanda Herche, Christ Church Women’s Ministry
Last month, the Christ Church Women’s Ministry hosted Paint Night to provide an opportunity for the women of the church to do life together, setting aside some time to socialize and let out our creativity.
Some might think that in such an activity creativity would be limited. After all, we are each painting the same picture. I would counter that having one picture as a guide removes the pressure for those of us whose gifts don’t really include being an artist. And because of that, we can each be free to create something slightly unique, varying according to our individual perspective, much like God created each of us uniquely and yet intended for us to be one body in Christ.
Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. (Romans 12:4-5)
Women’s Ministry continues their Summer Nights events this week with Christmas in July on Thursday, July 27. Join us and bring a friend to share in the body of Christ being a light to the world.
July 27: Christmas in July | 6-8 p.m. | Wilson/Ross 415
Learn about how Christ Church decorates for Christmas and about the history of the Chrismon tree. Resident expert Sybil Tucker and resident decorators Kay Floyd and Pat Beeson will be on hand to give us all the details. We will make and/or repair some of these beautiful ornaments. Santa struggle? Keeping Christ in Christmas? We will talk about family traditions that will help us center on Jesus, the reason for the season!
Not feeling crafty? Come hang out with us anyway and enjoy some food, fun and fellowship. Bring your favorite Christmas dessert or appetizer to share. Childcare is available by reservation. RSVP to Laura Greenwell, (901) 261-2133.
