christmas-tub-photoThis Sunday, Nov. 13, is a special day around the world as churches, communities and organizations celebrate Orphan Sunday. Christ Church is committed to changing lives of children around the world and in our city, especially the children who need it most in our foster care system. While there are several Christ Church families that are in the process of adoption, we understand that adoption and foster care is not a reality for all. Still, all do have the ability to show love and care to these kids by sponsoring a local foster child this Christmas by participating in Packed N Love.

The goal of Packed N Love Christmas Treasure Boxes is to provide each child in the Department of Children Services (DCS) with Christmas gifts that will not only meet their tangible needs and wants, but more importantly make them feel loved, valued and cared about. We believe that every child deserves to be lavished with love and grace. Families deciding to participate will commit to two simple things:

  1. Each treasure box will be filled with approximately $125 worth of gifts for the child. We ask that you purchase only new items and include things that the child both wants and needs! All items must fit in the tub and be returned to the church by December 4.
  2. In addition, please provide a minimum of $125 which will go toward the Memphis Family Connection Center’s (MFCC) ongoing efforts to support adoptive and foster families year round. MFCC is one of our primary partners in Orphan Care, providing counseling, parent mentorship, nutrition, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc. Learn more about MFCC at

1 + 2 = year-round care of adoptive & foster families

Would you, your family, small group or Sunday school class consider getting into the Christmas spirit early by claiming a tub for a local child in the foster care system? Tubs will be available before & after services this Sunday, Nov. 13 at all locations.

Interested in participating but unable to grab your tub this weekend? Contact Laura Greenwell or Marcy Fitzpatrick to ask any questions or arrange a time to pick it up from the church.
