JACKSON, Miss. (UMNS) — Myrlie Evers, the wife of slain civil rights activist Medgar Evers, will honor a group of Mississippi ministers who stood against discrimination in 1963 after unrest during the desegregation of the University of Mississippi. The Rev. Maxie Dunnam, retired president of Asbury Theological Seminary, was one of those clergy and recounts the background of the “Born of Conviction” statement he helped write.
