For the second summer, Christ Church is holding a Wednesday evening worship service in Wilson Chapel. It launched this past week and will run through July.

The service is preceded by a meal (reservations) in Seabrook Hall from 5:30 to 6:15, and worship led by Josh Smith begins at 6:30 in the Chapel. Some sort of refreshment like frozen yogurt or italian ice is usually offered after the service.

Going to Midweek Worship and meal last summer as a resident in the Christ College Residency Program was the best way I was able to come to know the community of Christ Church. It is a more intimate worship environment than what you find on Sunday mornings, and the meals and desserts provided after the service give us more opportunities way to share each other’s company.

This summer, Robbyn and Shane Stanford are teaching us through the book of Revelation, showing us that though it is difficult to understand at first glance, this book reveals to us through stunning imagery the hope that is ours in Jesus Christ.

Robbyn set the stage for the series this past Wednesday with an overview which can you find in the Christ Church Media Library here.

Robbyn’s main point as we begin this book is that we “See this as not just a fairy tale but a true tale – your tale, my tale, and this world – which gives us hope as we see the curtain pulled back and and find there’s a true and better story to this world: a Sovereign, Good, Loving, and Faithful King pulling the strings.”

The first night of Midweek Worship was a tremendous success, and we hope you’ll join us for the rest of the summer!
