Get ready for next weekend—
There are two very fun opportunities to support a couple of local missions partners!
On Saturday, September 13, Jacob’s Well is throwing one of their CPB’s!
CPB stands for Compassion Party on the Block — it is an outpouring of love and compassion for the church community in Uptown that takes place in outdoor-party form.
It is held in the same spirit as their CPR (Compassion Party on the Road) events every Wednesday, when they prepare meals to take to people living on the street.
The idea is to bring different kinds of people together in the kind of fellowship and sharing together that is faithful to the example of Jesus.
You are invited to:
- come and have fun
- or also provide food and supplies
- or even help pull off the event with the cooking, grilling, games and more!
Kairos Prison Ministry
Kairos Prison Ministry Weekends are some of the most spiritually impactful times that CUMC has the privilege of being a small part of.
On these weekends, volunteers spend time in small groups of incarcerated men and guide them in living into the love of Jesus.
They need 4,000 dozen cookies to give to male inmates during the weekend; homemade or from tub mix; chocolate chip only (no nuts) packaged in Ziploc bags or cookie sleeve (no boxes or tins).
These cookies are, for a lot of men, the only gifts they receive while in prison.
Think about spending Friday night and Saturday baking cookies at the house . Enjoy the aroma, keep a few for yourself, but bring the rest to the Seabrook lobby at the front entrance of the church on Sunday morning, September 14.
