Congratulations to Jerry Dunnam, who was recently honored by LeMoyne Owen College as this year’s Woman of Distinction. Jerry, the wife of Christ Church Pastor Emeritus Maxie Dunnam, was recognized for her “spiritual and community work,” which includes the churches she and Maxie planted in Georgia and Mississippi early in their ministry,
A talented artist and writer, Jerry helped bring The Walk to Emmaus to Memphis, established a ministry for incarcerated women and was an instrumental force behind Christ Church’s connection to Habitat for Humanity. She has directed the opening and closing processions for three World Methodist Conferences and has contributed numerous works of original art that adorn the walls of the church.
Jerry currently serves CUMC in worship arts, occasionally painting before the congregation during the worship service. She shares an art studio with one of her daughters, Kerry Peeples, where she continues to capture her faith on canvas with beauty and creativity.
