The Bible emphasizes the importance of prayer as we seek to grow closer to God. The Christ Church Prayer Ministry offers numerous ways for people to grow in their faith by praying for others. One of these opportunities is by serving as a prayer intercessor. Intercessors pray in the prayer room during the worship services, praying specifically for the minister, musicians and congregation.
Kathey Flagg has served as a prayer intercessor for 10 years and said she has grown in her own spiritual life during this time by spending more personal prayer time with God. “I am more in tune to God’s voice and His directions for me personally and for others,” she said. “Increasing my own personal prayer life has better equipped me to know how to pray for others.”
Kathey encourages others to serve as intercessors. “God is not looking for perfect prayer intercessors, but rather willing hearts who love God and want His will to be done on earth as in heaven,” she said. “It is so rewarding to stand in the gap for others, especially when they may be unable or unwilling to pray for themselves because of brokenness.”
