In a society filled with “getting” as Christmas ads fill our inboxes and airwaves, it is nice to see the rise of “Giving Tuesday” encouraging us to think of others and give to charitable causes. As we approach Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to see your gift to Christ Church as an active commitment and participation in living a life on mission as the Bible teaches.
Throughout 2 Corinthians, Paul encourages the church in Corinth toward generosity on behalf of the Christians in Jerusalem. For Paul, this generosity was directly connected to their brothers and sisters in Christ serving in a far country and part of their commitment and participation of being in the church.
Just this year, your commitment and participation in the mission of Christ Church have led to the advancement of the Gospel across the street and around the world. In Memphis, Christ Church supports ministries, nonprofits and organizations that work to increase educational equity, reduce poverty, increase the availability to healthcare, mentor those in the criminal justice system and shape the future leaders of our city. Around the world, our church is actively engaged in ministry on four continents, ministering to refugees, providing a response to disasters and supporting the important tasks of Bible translation, church planting and pastoral training.
So THANK YOU, Christ Church, for your faithful generosity as we seek to reach the 700,000 in Memphis without the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. Your gifts matter.
