955d319a-57d0-4c7d-88e4-3e1b78df6401Thanksgiving has come and gone, and with Cyber Monday upon us, we have arrived into Christmas season! The Binghampton Development Corporation’s Greatest Gift Christmas Store is gearing up for another year of offering affordable toys to families in Binghampton.  The store focuses on giving parents the dignity of selecting and providing Christmas gifts for their children following after the example of Jesus, our Greatest Gift.  The store accepts new, unwrapped toys for ages 0-12.

Several organizations, including many that Christ Church is in partnership with, do incredible work to tangibly show the love of Christ to those that they serve during Christmas.  One reason that we make a special partnership with the Binghampton Development Corporation’s store is the gift of dignity that it provides to those in which they serve. By purchasing a gift for a child in the neighborhood, you are in fact providing three gifts in one!

First is the incredible toys that kids in the neighborhood will receive. All toys given to the BDC are brand new, and priced on a scale that ranges from one dollar to five dollars. A full list of an Amazon wishlist is available at the bottom of this post, or you may purchase your own!  Second is the gift of pride for parents. As John Perkins from Focused Community Strategies stated, “It is a universal truth that everyone loves to find a bargain. Everyone loves to show how much they saved by finding good deals. Why would we think it is a blessing to the poor to deprive them of this joy by giving charitable gifts that deplete their dignity?” By giving a toy to the BDC, you will be giving the gift of letting parents pick out their toys for their kids, working to pay for them, and having the pride of watching their children open them on Christmas morning. The third is the gift of jobs for residents in the neighborhood. The store is ran entirely by residents from Binghampton. Families that are eligible to shop at the store, which are selected through partnership with multiple neighborhood ministries including Service Over Self, Eikon, and the Carpenter Art Garden, will be assisted completely by their fellow neighbors. Staff this year will also be assisting in the gift wrapping of the toys.

Will you consider taking some time this Cyber Monday to add a gift for the Binghampton Development Corporation’s Greatest Gift Christmas Store into your cart on Amazon?

All toys are needed by December 9, giving two weeks for shipping and delivery. Follow this link HERE to be taken directly to their Amazon wishlist. We ask that all gifts be shipped to Service Over Self, which is located at 2505 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38112.

If you would like to purchase your toy locally, it can be delivered to either the box in the Seabrook Lobby, or directly the the Binghampton Development Corporation, located at 280 Tillman Street. All toys must be delivered by December 9.
