As we enter the Advent season, our teaching pastors will take a look at the fear that each of the biblical characters had to move through on their way to the manger. Can you imagine the fear of public opinion facing Joseph? The fear of limitations Mary must have felt? The fear of a difficult and long journey facing the Magi? And the fear of ordinariness facing the Shepherds?

In our own lives, we often struggle with the crippling effects of fear in various situations. We can’t allow fear to stop us from moving forward in the journey. We shouldn’t deny our fears, but allow them to call us to move closer to Jesus… and as we do, our fears have less hold and our hope grows.
