Date & location change: Due to predicted inclement weather on Saturday, April 22, the Cup of Nations Soccer Tournament has been rescheduled. Bracket times do not change.
New Date: Saturday, May 6
New location: Christ Church Memphis
If you are still looking for an opportunity to engage with the nations locally here in Memphis, the Cup of Nations is your chance! On Saturday May 6, 16 teams representing 14 nations and three continents will compete at Christ Church Memphis for the title of city champion.
Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell Jr., along with Christ Church Memphis, Barnhart Crane, Christian Brothers University and Kyle Rote Jr. are honored to host the fourth annual Memphis Cup of Nations Soccer Tournament and Family Festival in Memphis to celebrate a diverse international community.
The goal of the Memphis Cup of Nations is to seize the universal passion for sport, connect the nations and build community. The teams will compete in a day-long soccer tournament to determine the best in Memphis and to celebrate, recognize and honor an often overlooked part of our community that numbers some 100,000+. This year’s tournament includes teams from Mexico, Tanzania, China, Liberia, Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Japan and Senegal.
Each team will also be paired with a country champion, a small group of people from churches around the city that support the team as fans. Country champions spend time cheering on their team, eating lunch together and building friendships. Christ Church will serve as country champion for two teams this year, Team China and Team Laos.
All are invited to attend this year’s tournament, whether as part of one of our country champion teams or to enjoy a day of soccer. Food trucks will be onsite for lunch. The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. with a parade of nations and continues throughout the day until a champion is crowned at 3 p.m.
