We’ve had an incredible time here in Liberia. We spent the last week helping facilitate an International Leadership Institute (ILI) conference for 90 pastors and young church leaders in Bong County Liberia. There is a great need for this kind of work in the Church here. For many of these leaders, this is the only formal training they have ever had. The certificate that they received on Saturday qualifies them to go out, plant churches and train 100 more Biblically centered leaders in the next year. It was a true blessing to serve and learn with these precious people.

We also had the opportunity to visit Rev. Jerry Kulah’s home village and see the work the Methodist Church is doing there. The 15 years of civil war has ravaged this nation and continues to cripple development and cause extreme poverty for most who live here. This particular village plants crops at the beginning of the rainy season for their annual food supply. The problem is that they are unable to produce enough food to provide for the community through the rainy season. They call the time between May and September “the hungry time”. Pray with us for the people of Boway.

We are now spending our last couple of days with Dr. Chris Hena. Chris has started a medical clinic in her home village of Kakata. When we arrived at the clinic this morning, there were already 35 people waiting to be seen. Chris limits herself to seeing no more than 35 patients each day so that she can give them the best care possible. She loves the Lord with all of her heart and loves these people like Jesus.

Blessings,

Eric and team (from Kakata, Liberia)
