On Tuesday, March 26 in lieu of their monthly all-staff meeting, a team of Christ Church staff members helped World Relief Memphis move their offices. One staff crew helped load trucks at their current location on Poplar Avenue, and the others unloaded the trucks at their new location on Quince. Christ Church staff also assembled furniture, set up the kitchen and cleaned and vacuumed.
The World Relief staff were extremely appreciative of the Christ Church team’s hard work. In fact, World Relief cancelled their moving company originally scheduled for March 27 because the Christ Church staff were able to move everything.
“It was great to see our staff serving together outside the walls of Christ Church as well as alongside the World Relief staff,” said Stephanie Powell, Director of Global Missions. “Many of our staff members were able to see the facility of one of our partners and hear more about what all World Relief offers. It’s hard to step away from busy schedules but such a blessing at times like this when we can.”
World Relief’s mission is to empower the local church to serve the most vulnerable to see their economic, social and spiritual transformation. As the only evangelical refugee resettlement agency, the group helps to bring families to Memphis and ensures that they are making steps toward sustainability.
Here are a few ways you can pray for World Relief:
–that they remain faithful and focused to equip, encourage and empower the Church in Memphis to the biblical and relational call to welcome, serve, love, reach, disciple immigrants, asylees, refugees and that the Church responds with eagerness
–that in this new location they are better positioned to welcome and serve immigrants, asylees, refugees with their programmatic services (resettlement, employment, connect language center, immigration legal services…) and that their clients and students would feel well cared for and empowered
–that Gospel conversations would take place, offering their clients a different, lasting Refuge—more than just coming to the USA can offer
