During the month of October, the Children’s Ministry mission project was a food drive for the Mid-South Food Bank. Preschool and elementary children were encouraged to bring food donations to Sunday school and Candy in the Courtyard and place the food in a box by their favorite college team.

“This project was especially accessible to our kids,” said Brad Bogue, Senior Director of Family Ministry. “They understand that all people need food and know, to at least some degree, what it means to feel hungry. Buying food at a store and then physically placing that food in a donation box is a very real and concrete action that helps our kids learn to serve others.”

The final rankings:
4th place: Mississippi State
3rd place: Ole Miss
2nd place: University of Tennessee
1st place: University of Memphis

However, the real winner was the Mid-South Food Bank. Because of the generosity of the children and their families, the Mid-South Food Bank will be able to provide this food to people in need in our community.

“Through our food drive and every mission project we offer to our kids, we desire to empower our young people,” Brad said. “We want them to understand that God calls us all, even the young, to do acts of love and mercy in His name. If we invite children into a life of generosity and service when they are young, it becomes foundational in their faith journeys.”
