Guest post by Dr. Jason Vickers, Site Coordinator & Professor of Theology, Asbury-Memphis
Have you ever noticed that we human beings love to celebrate? Think about it! We celebrate all sorts of things, from birthdays and anniversaries to graduations and promotions. We celebrate when our team scores a touchdown in the big game. Some of us celebrate when we win a board game.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, I want to invite you to a different kind of celebration. For four weeks, I will teach Basic Christian Theology for Christ Academy. I know, I know, a class on theology doesn’t sound like a reason to celebrate. But my hope is that, by the end of four weeks together, you will come to think of theology as an opportunity for the most profound kind of celebration. Whether we are contemplating the beauty and splendor of God, giving heartfelt thanks for the sheer goodness of creation, or simply standing amazed at what God has done in Jesus Christ for us and our salvation, theology, rightly undertaken, gives rise to joy and deep delight.
If you like to eat, drink and celebrate with friends, Basic Christian Theology is the place for you! I hope to see you there!
Basic Christian Theology
