July 4th, Independence Day, the nation’s birthday—it goes by several names—but it’s a day set apart to celebrate our freedom. As we celebrate, let’s remember to pray for the men and women who serve our country in the armed services and the families who sacrifice so much as they serve. Many of our troops risk their lives daily to protect us, and many have been injured or died while fighting for the freedoms we enjoy.

We pray God’s blessings on those we know including the son of Christ Church members Hank and Ruthann Shelton, Wes. Wes grew up at Christ Church and now serves as a Major in the infantry branch of the Army. He is stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington, where he lives with his wife Megan and their four children.

If you have family members on active duty in the military, we would like to add them to our church prayer list. Please email their name to our prayer ministry team coordinated by Mary Elizabeth Pittman. You can also email Mary Elizabeth if you would like to be part of our prayer team to receive an updated prayer list each week.
