A 33-member team from Christ Church recently returned from serving with YUGO Ministries in Ensenada, Mexico. This was the 10th year for the team to build houses for families and conduct VBS in the community.

“Some people see families living in these poor conditions for the first time,” said Andrew Grissom, who was traveling with the team for his third time. “It is powerful to see team members stretched in new ways as they love the people in Mexico. God grows people’s hearts for the nations as we love others.”

Andrew encourages others to consider serving on a future team. “Our job when we go is not to lift up the name of Christ Church but to be THE church. When we see someone in need, contribute to meet that need. When we see someone who is lost, love them the way Jesus would.”

The experience has taught him how to have a servant’s heart, not just in Mexico but also in Memphis and our community here at Christ Church. “Everyone has the opportunity to serve, and you do not have to leave our city to do it.”
