Mims Clayton has always enjoyed coaching youth sports, and he also has a heart to serve. For the past five years, serving at Memphis Gridiron Ministries (MGM) as a coach and Board member has allowed him to incorporate both.
“God tells us to be servant leaders,” Mims said about giving back to his community. “Being a consistent adult male role model to the boys we coach is important.”
“Being around the kids and families in the Binghampton community has been a blessing,” Mims said as he recalls the numerous lessons God has taught him through serving. “Seeing the challenges and temptations these kids face and how we can influence how they respond is truly the work of God.”
As a father, there’s an important lesson that Mims hopes his own kids learn through his example of being generous with your time. “Time is the one thing that we all have equal amounts of; how you use it is a true indication of where your heart is.”
