Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.
–Proverbs 22:6

The Dyer family has passed down the tenets of this verse from generation to generation. Tom and Dee Dyer raised their family in the church, and now their children, Ross and Jenny, continue the tradition with their own families.

Tom was honored at this year’s Founders Circle Dinner with the Christ Academy Award for Leadership-Legacy, and making the moment extra special was when the award was presented to him by his son Ross and granddaughter Mary Elizabeth.

Ross said the word legacy stuck out to him when thinking about his dad. “When I think of a church leader, I think of someone who’s a leader in the house, a leader in the church and a leader in the big church as well. And when I think of that person, I think of my dad.”

Ross recalled his father’s extensive involvement at Christ Church from chairing nearly every committee, teaching multiple Sunday school classes, coaching little league and taking the family on trips—anywhere he could to spread God’s Word. “That’s how he incorporated family and church all in one.”
